obscura.tips is a web application that helps artists compare their paintings to reference images. The service is provided as-is. You can use it for free with ads, or make a one-time purchase to remove ads.

2. Accounts

You sign in with your Google account. We store your projects, captures, and preferences. You are responsible for maintaining access to your Google account. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms or are used for unlawful purposes.

3. Your content

You retain ownership of all images you upload (reference images and canvas captures). We do not use your content for any purpose other than providing the service to you. You may delete your projects and captures at any time.

4. Purchases

The "Remove Ads" purchase is a one-time payment processed by Paddle (our payment provider). The purchase is tied to your Google account and applies across devices when signed in.

5. Availability

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uptime. We may modify or discontinue features at any time. We are not liable for any loss of data or interruption of service.

6. Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

7. Changes

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.

What we collect

Account info -your Google display name, email, and profile photo (from Google sign-in)
Your content -reference images and canvas captures you upload, stored in Firebase Cloud Storage
Project data -canvas dimensions, names, and settings, stored in Firebase Firestore
Purchase status -whether you have purchased ad removal, and the Paddle transaction ID

How we use it

To provide the service (storing and displaying your projects and captures)
To remember your ad-free purchase status
To display ads via Google AdSense (if you have not purchased ad removal)

Data retention

Refund Policy

Ad removal purchase

The "Remove Ads" purchase is a one-time, non-recurring payment. If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, you may request a refund within 14 days of purchase by emailing [email protected] with your transaction ID.

How refunds work

Refunds are processed through Paddle, our payment provider
Refunds are returned to the original payment method
Once a refund is processed, ads will be re-enabled on your account
Refunds typically take 5-10 business days to appear
